Hacienda Pradolagar

In the heart of the Ebro valley in Rioja, just outside the famous wine town of Logrono, Marques de Vargas is situated. Consisting of a single, large vineyard, covering over 65 hectares, all of which are extremely well located and produces benchmark Riojas. Under the expert stewardship of the La Mata family the wines have maintained a traditional Rioja identity but have their own individual personality achieved though a combination of meticulous husbandry in the vineyards and a fine attention to detail in the winery. Marqués de Vargas started out with a philosophy inspired by the French Châteaux, exclusively producing Reserva and Gran Reserva premium fine wines using grapes from its own vineyards next to the winery. Limited production each year, with a regional character and the singularity and identity of its unique terroir.

A limited and numbered edition estate wine, of which we only release the best vintages, using grapes from the oldest vines on the property, planted an average of 50 years ago.

Deep ruby color with purplish rims. Intense, fresh and vibrant on the nose with fine aromas of candied fruit and subtle truffle nuances, that mingle together with some balsamic, spicy and minty undernotes. A full-bodied, pronounced, elegant wine of good structure, with slightly sweet, fine tannins, nicely polished by the long aging. A wine that perfectly reflects the sense of the “terroir”.
