Bodega Valdespino is one of the oldest bodegas in Jérez, originating in 1264, when King Alfonso X gave Don Alfonso Valdespino the gift of land in the City of Jérez. In 1999, Valdespino was bought by Grupo Estévez who were able to fund and maintain the traditional methods for which Valdespino is famous. Valdespino Sherries remain among the very best quality available, and Inocente is still one the best Fino in the market, as well as being the only Sherry to be produced from the grapes of a single vineyard.
Manzanilla is a dry white wine made from Palomino grapes and aged under a layer of yeasts. It is produced exclusively in the bodegas of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The special climatic conditions of the town, situated at the mouth of the river Guadalquivar, favor the formation of a special kind of which gives the wine its uniquely distinctive characteristics.
Lots of yeasty freshness, including a light waxy edge. Very dry, but more sapid and perhaps a little sharper than other Manzanillas, although there’s a trace of quince sweetness as well. Bitter almonds. Dried grasses and olive brine. Long, savory finish.
