Tokaji Eszencia

Set on the south-facing slopes of Tokaj town in the heart of the Tokaj Wine Region, the 55-hectare Tokaj-Hetszolo estate is known worldwide for its unique wines and rich history. The history of the Hetszolo vineyard began in 1502 when the Garai family assembled seven vineyards (het=seven, szolo=vineyard).

This is the very top category of Tokaj specialties. For this “wine” only aszú berries were used (shriveled berries covered with the noble rot, called botrytis cinerea). After leaving these berries in a stainless steel tank for about a few days, pure juice is obtained, the essence of them. The juice goes into big glass balloons for long fermentation. Cold vintage, with high acidity. Cool, elegant, amazing wine.

Rich rasiny orange peel aromas with hints of bee wax on the nose. Luscious with high acidity and very broad texture. Long finish with great balance and very refined modern style.
