Desiderio

Avignonesi is a wine producer in the Montepulciano region of southern Tuscany. The estate was founded in 1974 by the Avignonesi family. It was acquired by Virgine Saverys in 2009, who has expanded the estate significantly. It now comprises 175 hectares of vineyards, and has a new, state-of-the-art winemaking facility. Saverys also established it as a leader in biodynamic winegrowing in the country. Avignonesi is certified organic, biodynamic (Biodyvin) and vegan.

Polished, medium-to-full-bodied Tuscan Merlot profile with ripe blackberry, black cherry, and plum at the core, layered with cocoa, espresso, vanilla, and cedar from oak aging, plus subtle hints of licorice, herbs, and light tobacco as it opens; on the palate it is smooth and balanced rather than overly powerful, with fine, well-integrated tannins, moderate acidity, and a rounded texture that keeps the fruit expressive without becoming jammy, leading to a medium-long finish.
