Distilleria Sibona is one of the oldest and most respected grappa producers in Piedmont, Italy, founded over a century ago in the Roero area near Alba. The distillery is especially known for holding the historic distillation license No. 1 issued by the Italian authorities, a symbol of its prestige and long tradition. Sibona specializes in artisanal single-varietal grappas made from fresh pomace of top Piedmont grapes using careful steam distillation and long barrel aging.
Barolo Riserva Speciale is a premium long-aged grappa made from Nebbiolo pomace sourced from Barolo vineyards, designed to express both varietal structure and deep oak maturity. It is typically produced with an initial resting phase in stainless steel followed by extended ageing in small oak barrels, where it develops its complexity, softness, and amber color over several years.
The nose is rich and elegant, showing layers of vanilla, dried roses, ripe red berries, cherry, plum, tobacco, cocoa, and warm spice. On the palate it is full-bodied and velvety, with a refined balance between fruit intensity and barrel influence, revealing notes of caramel, dark chocolate, hazelnut, licorice, and sweet oak.
