The Aberlour Distillery sits at the base of the rugged mountain range, Ben Rinnes. Is at the heart of Speyside, the country's premier whisky-making region. No fewer than half of Scotland's malt distilleries are located in Speyside, which is renowned for producing whiskies of subtle depth and elegance. The crystal-clear spring water that cascades down the slopes of Ben Rinnes, and makes its way from there along the Lour valley to the distillery, is the lifeblood of Aberlour malt whisky.

Meaning ‘the original’ in Gaelic, A’bunadh is made in homage to Aberlour’s founder, James Fleming. A’bunadh is a whisky hand-made from start to finish with each batch being created to ensure a rich and complex flavor of moist raisin, and homemade fruit cake. It is bottled at cask strength resulting in a robust and deeply intense, sherried whisky. Alba refers to 'Quercus Alba', which describes the type of American white oak used. Additionally, it is the name of Scotland in Scottish Gaelic.

American white oak casks, which were previously filled with bourbon, are selected for the maturation of the single malt. This malt is bottled at cask strength and not cold-filtered.

Oily and fruity on the nose with ripe apples, rowan berries, tropical fruits and vanilla. With time somewhat dusty and oaky. Rich, creamy on the palate and full bodied. White pepper and some dry oakiness. Hints of citrus in the background. Medium long finish. Remains dry, fruity and softly spicy.
