Atanasius

Gut Oggau is a project in the small town of Oggau in Burgenland, Austria which was started by Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe back in 2007. Each bottle from Gut Oggau is an invitation, a ticket to walk a part of the way with them into the beauty of nature with all its energy, into balance, into harmony and into the enchanting unknown. Lively as their wines are, full of character and rich in personality, they have felt and described them like personalities since the beginning. Described like dear people who have grown close to their hearts. The faces on the labels are fictitious, they refer purely to the personal impression that each wine makes on them.

The Atanasius holds a balanced place within Gut Oggau‘s young generation. This Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch natural red cuvée is light in terms of alcohol but more complex in flavors. You can expect a light to medium bodied red with some playful minerality.

Fermentation takes place in used 500, and 1200-liter barrels, and the juice spends about 3 weeks in contact with the skins. The wine goes through elevage in the same barrels for about 12 months, with no batonnage. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero addition of sulfur.
