Bacardi is a famous brand of rum, founded in Cuba and now based in Puerto Rico. The brand was founded in 1862 when Catalan-born wine merchant Facundo Bacardi Massó and his brother José set up a distillery in Santiago de Cuba. Facundo had previously pioneered charcoal filtration which, along with aging in white oak barrels, allowed him to produce what is generally considered to be the first white rum. Fruit bats lived in the rafters of the distillery, inspiring the company's logo.
The Maestros de Ron of Bacardi craft Bacardi Carta Oro’s rich flavors and golden complexion in toasted oak barrels. The secret behind its unique mellow character? A blend of charcoals known only to them.
Rich, soothing flavors like vanilla, buttery caramel, toasted almond and sweet banana notes balanced by the warm zest of orange peel and a light, oaky finish.
