Pio Cesare is a wine producer in Piedmont, Italy, particularly known for its elegant Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The estate was founded in 1881 by Cesare Pio, and is one of the oldest in the region and one of the first to export. It is still owned and run by his descendants. The cellar is located in the centre of Alba and its main walls date back to the Roman period. The company owns 70 hectares (172 acres) of vineyards in the Barolo and Barbaresco regions. Grapes for Pio Cesare's wines is also sourced from managed vineyards under long term contracts.
The origin is from vineyards owned by Pio family, located in different locations within the Barolo area. Winemaking in stainless steel vats and maceration on the skins for about 30 days at rather high temperatures. Aging in French and Slavonian oak barrels for about 30 months and a small part in barriques.
Red garnet color. The nose is intense and persistent which tends to favor fruity and floral notes such as violet and vanilla. In the mouth it stands out for its body its elegance, its structure and harmony, with soft tannins and the right amount of fruit, austere but ready.
