The name of Bollinger’s emblematic champagne, with its English spelling, encapsulates its entire history. It was the British agent of Georges Bollinger who, in 1911, christened it “Special Cuvée”, as he found the expression “non-vintage brut” did not befit a champagne of such subtlety. Over a century later, the name of the champagne emblematic of Bollinger’s expertise still encapsulates its entire history. 

La Grande Année is the very embodiment of an exceptional, timeless champagne. Artisanal savoir-faire is at the heart of its production. One such artisanal technique is winemaking, which takes place in oak barrels that are around 20 years old. This helps the wine develop complex aromas, and, thanks to micro-oxygenation, lends an extraordinary ageing potential.

Bollinger La Grande Année 2014 offers an elegant and deeply expressive profile, with aromas of ripe orchard fruit, citrus peel, toasted brioche, hazelnut and delicate spice. On the palate, it is structured and refined, combining notes of apple, pear and stone fruit with pastry, almond and subtle mineral nuances. The texture is creamy yet precise, supported by fine bubbles and fresh acidity, leading to a long, complex finish with lingering notes of citrus, toast and gentle salinity.
