Castello Romitorio is an Italian wine estate situated in Montalcino. The estate is particularly renowned for its Brunello di Montalcino wines produced from the Sangiovese grape variety. The estate takes its name from the nearby castle constructed in the 12th Century, and was purchased by the artist Sandro Chia in 1984. Chia began a series of developments that included the planting of several plots of Sangiovese vines that same year.
Brio is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes from estate vineyards on the gently sloping hills of Scansano. The combination of altitude, south-westerly exposure, and rich volcanic soils in Scansano create one of Italy's most unique microclimates.
A bit like the art on the label, there are colorful notes of ripe cherry, raspberries and warm Tuscan earth, all accompanied by delicious acidity and seamless drinkability.
