Domaine William Fèvre is one of the most prestigious of all Chablis houses and, despite its relative youth, produces some of the finest expressions of Chardonnay from the north of Burgundy. The domaine holdings cover a wide range of vineyards, including numerous grand and premier cru Chablis sites.
Vaulorent is the southernmost vineyard of the wider Fourchaume set of vineyards and is the only Chablis Premier Cru vineyard located on the same hill formation as the Chablis Grand Crus. The Chardonnay-based wines made here are widely considered to be some of the best of the Chablis Premier Cru wines, giving a powerful, elegant style of wine with Chablis' classic mineral characteristics.
In a superb mature window today, combining the classic tension and precision of the cooler 2014 vintage with the naturally powerful, Grand Cru-like character of Vaulorent: aromas of lemon zest, green apple, oyster shell, white flowers, flint and sea spray evolving into hazelnut, beeswax and subtle brioche with air, while the palate remain vibrant and chiseled, driven by chalky minerality and saline acidity wrapped around layers of citrus oil, pear skin and smoky wet stone, finishing long, crystalline and intensely mineral with remarkable freshness for its age.
