Château d'Armailhac is a wine estate in the Paulliac appellation of Bordeaux's northern Haut-Médoc wine region. As Mouton d'Armailhac, it was ranked as a fifth growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, is part of the wider Baron Philippe de Rothschild portfolio of estates, including Mouton Rothschild. Improvements in quality in recent decades mean that Château d'Armailhac is now regarded as one of Pauillac's best-value wines.
The colour is dark and intense. The nose opens on fruit aromas, especially black cherry, followed by toasted, roasted notes. The wine is immediately full and powerful on the attack, with well rounded tannins and fruit flavours that develop notes of vanilla, roasted coffee and toasted nuts. The long finish is sustained by slightly toasted, oaky flavours.
