Château Dauzac is a producer making Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant Bordeaux blends in the Labarde commune of Margaux, and was ranked a fifth growth in the 1855 Classification of Medoc and Graves. Located near the Gironde estuary whose influence on the vineyard’s ecosystem is critical, the property is protected from ocean winds thanks to 120 hectares of meadows and forests.
The bouquet is tightly wound at first. Then gently unfolds to reveal blackberry, briary, pressed flowers and light minty aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin on the entry, quite firm in my mouth at first, but there is plenty of fresh, predominantly black fruit locked into this Margaux. It is linear with a grippy finish.
