Château de Lussac is a 33 hectare (82 acre) estate in the commune of Lussac, situated within the small Saint-Émilion appellation of Lussac-Saint-Emilion. The château was constructed in 1876 by Gascon Montouroy, but grapevines were planted here in the Roman era. In 2000, it was purchased by Griet Laviale-Van Malderen and her husband Hervé, who initiated a series of renovations and developments in both the vineyards and winery.
The majority of the vineyards lie on a clay-limestone plateau, with the remaining vines occupying sandy-loam soils. The 30-year-old vines are machine-harvested and the grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.
Licorice, black cherries, flowers, and cocoa aromatics open the wine. Medium-bodied, soft, fruity, and creamy, as well as ready-to-go, this is perfect for near-term consumption.
