Château Fonréaud is a wine estate based in Listrac-Médoc, in the Haut-Médoc wine region just north of Bordeaux city. The estate covers a patchwork of 35 hectares (86 acres) of vineyard dedicated to red wine varieties around the château building in Listrac-Médoc. The property was acquired by Léo Chanfreau in 1962. Chanfreau, a former winemaker in the French colony of Algeria, rebuilt, refurbished and replanted the estate. Some of the concrete vats constructed by Chanfreau in the early 1960s are still in use today.

Deep, dark red-purple color to a vivid purple rim. Aromas of coffee & mocha overlay a dark plum fruit on the nose. The palate is fresh with red-cherry to high-ripeness black-cherry fruit. There is an exotic, sweet-spice element to the structure , but the fine tannins are very drying & almost earthy in nature - the alcohol enhances the spicy elements. A long structured finish combines juicy, vibrant dark-fruit with exotic spices.
