Château Fourcas Dupré is a wine estate in the Listrac-Médoc appellation. The château was established in 1844 and had been owned by the Pagès family since 1970. The estate spans some 46 hectares (114 acres) on predominantly classic Médoc gravel soils with a clay-and-limestone subsoil. The vineyard itself is composed of roughly equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, around 40 percent each, blended with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vines average over 30 years old.
Deep, dark black-purple color is almost opaque. The aromas are of warm, ripe dark-plum fruit. The palate is fresh with a very smooth, silky/graphite texture, dark fruit and lovely chocolate notes. Crunchy tannins emerge with sweet-spices take over the-mid palate. Juicy black-cherry fruit appears on the long, spicy finish, which ends drying.
