One of the oldest estates in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Haut-Marbuzet has a rich history dating back to 1770. Hervé Duboscq acquired the estate in 1952 with the ambition of making great wines that would reveal the full potential of these great terroirs on Bordeaux's Left Bank. Made from 66 hectares of vines. The vines, which are on average 30 years old, are planted on a ridge of Günzian gravel and a clay-limestone subsoil.
Harvested early to protect the freshness and juiciness in the grapes, Haut Marbuzet is nevertheless very St. Estèphe in style with quite developed aromas of woodsmoke and incense which lead to an attack full of cassis, spice and vanilla. On the palate there is lots of structure and well-integrated tannin with impressive concentration due to the small berries which gave so little juice. The wine finishes with a spicy, juicy and long impression which is very appetising and classy.
