Château de la Dauphine is a wine estate in the Fronsac region of Bordeaux. Production majors on red wines based on Merlot. It is one of the largest properties in the wider Libourne region, with a growing reputation. There are 70 hectares (170 acres) of vines in total, on a south-facing amphitheatre. The vineyard has has Agriculture Biologique (AB) organic certification since 2015. Further to this, Biodynamic methods have been adopted, and natural preparations are applied according to the lunar calendar.
The Grand Vin is Merlot-dominated, with around 10 percent Cabernet Franc . It is sourced from the more limestone-rich plots, amounting to around 40ha of the total. Average vine age in these sections exceeds 35 years.
Whispers of dark plums, cassis and blackberries dominate on the nose, while the first sip reveals a silky smooth entry, firm tannins, and an intense core of dark fruit and herbal notes which linger on the palate.
