Cuvée Palatia

Estate Argyros is a wine producer located on the island of Santorini in Greece. The vineyards are planted on volcanic soils and cover 26 hectares (65 acres) of land on the island. Native grape varieties are planted there, making wines in a range of styles, from dry whites to sweet vinsanto. The estate was originally founded in 1903 by Georgios Argyros, who started making local wines using traditional Santorinian methods. Argyros' vineyards are situated at altitudes ranging from 35-150m (115-500ft) above sea level, on the classic, dark volcanic soils of the island. The vines are cultivated in the traditional basket style which shelters the grapes from Santorini's strong winds.

Cuvée Palatia comes from a blend of grapes harvested from several old-vine vineyard sites across the island, which contributes to its concentration and complexity. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged on its fine lees for several months, adding texture, subtle roundness, and additional depth. The focus of the winemaking is purity and terroir expression, preserving Santorini’s hallmark minerality and high natural acidity.

The 2023 vintage shows a very classic expression of Santorini Assyrtiko. On the nose, expect bright citrus such as lemon and grapefruit, alongside white peach, floral hints, and a distinct volcanic minerality. The palate is crisp and energetic, with high acidity giving it a tense, linear structure, balanced by ripe stone fruit and a saline edge that lingers into the finish. Overall, it feels concentrated yet refreshing, with a long, slightly flinty aftertaste that is typical of the island’s wines in a strong, sun-filled vintage.
