Dom Pérignon is a celebrated Champagne brand owned by Moët & Chandon. The 17th-Century Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Pérignon is credited with its invention after taking up the position as the abbey's cellarer and procurator in 1668. Each vintage of Dom Pérignon is unique, with grapes sourced from only the best vineyards in Champagne. Dom Pérignon is only available as a vintage champagne and is only produced in exceptional years. Each vintage is a creation, singular and unique, that expresses both the character of the year, and the character of Dom Pérignon. Both Moët & Chandon and Dom Pérignon are now part of the LVMH group.
Luminous versions of Dom Perignon are for the nightclub market and also make great birthday gifts, a switch in the bottle "punt" allows you to switch the label lights on and off.
Boldly fruity, boldly Dom Pérignon, there is flesh and richness to support the zingy drive and spicy extravagance. So slow-ageing that we can call it a prelude today, the wine shines with its sumptuous pure fruitiness and Pinot power. An intriguing melange of delicious sweet cherry fruit, floral tulip whiffs, blood orange, coffee and saffron. The palate is firmly structured and tight, speaking of longevity. Still, there is at the same time immediate elegance and charm to it on the lingering, dancing palate.
