The Bodegas El Nido project is the result of the collaboration of the Gil Family and Chris Ringland (one of the best Australian enologists and author of Clio and El Nido) and others. The winery is located in the Valle de La Aragona, inside the Murcia district of Jumilla and surrounding area. The vineyards are 76.8 acres of very old Monatrell vines oriented northeast, and 28.8 acres of 30 year old Cabernet Sauvignon planted on smooth hills looking north.

That sensation of the lasting flavor which lingers in the mouth long after the wine leaves the palate and then settles in memory is a particular virtue of El Nido wines. In the highlands of Jumilla, they demonstrate their strength from the vineyard. Their roots pierce the stony soils, penetrate the coarse, limestone layer and touch the sandy strip.

Deep purple color with a violet-bluish hue at the rim. Intense but with a surprising amount of intricacy and detail. Blackberries and boysenberries, remembrances of tree bark, violets and dry earth. There is also an immensely rich spicy background with some smoky hints, a note of bitter cocoa and a hint of Cuban cigars. Fresh and compact, with exceptional acidity and luscious palate. Long finish, with some toasted and spicy remembrances

A unique wine made for open minded palates. Sophisticated and structured with extraordinary richness and flavor, subtle, balanced and extremely elegant.
