Gut Oggau is a project in the small town of Oggau in Burgenland, Austria which was started by Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe back in 2007. Each bottle from Gut Oggau is an invitation, a ticket to walk a part of the way with them into the beauty of nature with all its energy, into balance, into harmony and into the enchanting unknown. Lively as their wines are, full of character and rich in personality, they have felt and described them like personalities since the beginning. Described like dear people who have grown close to their hearts. The faces on the labels are fictitious, they refer purely to the personal impression that each wine makes on them.

Emmeram by Gut Oggau is a fine, fragrant Gewürztraminer, with berries that come from a plant that is about 40 years old. Before pressing, the grapes are macerated on their skins for only a few hours, as any longer and Emmeram would become too clumsy and lose its finesse. The wine is fermented spontaneously in used 500 litre barrels and after one year of maturation without batonnage and additional sulphur, it is bottled unvarnished and unfiltered.

Dry but rich and very fresh, aromatic, stunning. Emmeram is the quirky member of the family and offers an exotic, intense and multi-faceted nose followed by a the palate full of character. The personality of this wine is both versatile and mysterious. Unexpectedly dry and mineral yet with quirky pungent aromatics, this is serious wine with a touch of the playful and beguiling.
