Glenmorangie has existed as a distillery since 1843 when William Matheson bought a licence to make whisky on the site of a brewery located near the Tarlogie Springs in Ross-shire in the highlands of Scotland. Matheson bought two second-hand gin stills to make his spirit, and the distillery is famous for having the tallest stills in Scotland. The water used in the production is drawn from Tarlogie Springs, which are located in the nearby Tarlogie hills. Over the years, Glenmorangie has become Scotland’s best selling Single Malt. That, more than anything else, should be held dear to the distillery’s metaphoric heart as an enormous success.

A Tale of Spices is a limited-edition Highland single malt Scotch whisky inspired by the vibrant aromas and colours of global spice markets. Created by Dr. Bill Lumsden and Master Blender Gillian Macdonald, the whisky begins with bourbon cask-matured Glenmorangie before being finished in four different cask types: Never used before at Glenmorangie - Moroccan red wine casks made from French oak, new charred oak casks, shaved and toasted red wine casks, and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.

The nose is intensely aromatic and perfumed, opening with rose, jasmine, carnation, and lilac alongside warming spices such as cumin, saffron, nutmeg, ginger, chilli, and anise. Beneath the spice are hints of sweet oak, chestnut, delicate fruit, menthol, and fresh bread dough. On the palate, the whisky bursts with ginger, black pepper, and mustard seed, creating a bold earthy spice character balanced by mint toffee, demerara sugar, sugar-coated almonds, and eucalyptus freshness. The finish is long, warming, and spicy, lingering with clove, peppermint, leather, and sweet oak notes.
