IDDA is newly formed alliance between the Etna pioneer Graci and Piedmont icon Gaja families. A venture founded to explore the southern slope of Mount Etna, with the purpose of searching for vineyards that express elegance and complexity. The winery presently own 20 hectares of vineyards sited between 600 and 800 metres above sea level in the villages of Belpasso and Biancavilla. The grape varieties currently cultivated are the red Nerello Mascalese and the white Carricante, although more vineyards are in development.
Etna Rosso is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese fermented in a combination of oak and concrete vats, which was then followed by 24 months of ageing in oak and concrete.
Mineral notes bound to sweet aromas, like marzipan, but with tart black cherry and mulberry rising from the glass. The wine shows notes of candied citrus fruits, but also soft herbal tones, such as fresh tomato leaf and oregano. This wine has a clear expression of ripe and sweet fruit on the palate.
