INDI Gavi

La Mesma is a family-run winery in the heart of the Gavi DOCG in Piedmont, Italy, led by the Rosina sisters, who focus exclusively on expressing the purity of the Cortese grape. Produced from organically grown Cortese grapes in Monterotondo, within the Gavi DOCG zone, INDI takes its name from the indigenous yeasts used in its spontaneous fermentation. La Mesma prepares a pied de cuve—a small naturally fermenting batch that acts like a sourdough starter—before introducing it to the remaining must, giving greater control while relying solely on native yeasts. The producer does not publish a fixed ageing duration for this wine, so an exact number of months should not be stated; its character comes primarily from this low-intervention fermentation and the limestone-rich Monterotondo terroir.

Bright and expressive, La Mesma INDI Gavi opens with ripe green and red apple, fresh citrus, wildflowers and subtle herbal notes. The palate is rounded and lightly textured yet remains lively, with tart lemon peel, crisp acidity and a distinctive stony, saline character carrying through to a clean, mouthwatering finish.
