Jermann is a wine producer located in Fruili-Venezia Giulia. The estate was founded by Anton Jermann, a native of Austria, who settled in Italy and continued producing wines as he had done in his homeland. Today the Jermann estate has around 170 hectares (420 acres) under vine on sandstone and marl soils.
The first vintage of this wine dates back to 1973, however Vintage Tunina was actually first released in 1975. Historically, Vintage Tunina starts out as a blend of the best grapes that are harvested late, depending on the year, about two weeks after the normal harvest on an area of about 16 hectares of vineyards cultivated on Ronco del Fortino. Tunina was both the name of the lady who was the first owner of this vineyard and Casanova’s poorest lover (she used to be a housekeeper for a Venetian family and her name was Tunina, a nickname of Antonia), whom the wine is dedicated to.
This wine is an artful blend of international and indigenous grapes namely Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla and Malvasia. It is Jermann's most highly acclaimed wine.
Bright straw-colored with golden reflections. The nose is intense, wide, very elegant and persistent with scents of honey and country flowers. To the palate it is dry, soft, well balanced with an extraordinary persistence due to its full body.
