Gut Oggau is a project in the small town of Oggau in Burgenland, Austria which was started by Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe back in 2007. Each bottle from Gut Oggau is an invitation, a ticket to walk a part of the way with them into the beauty of nature with all its energy, into balance, into harmony and into the enchanting unknown. Lively as their wines are, full of character and rich in personality, they have felt and described them like personalities since the beginning. Described like dear people who have grown close to their hearts. The faces on the labels are fictitious, they refer purely to the personal impression that each wine makes on them.
A striking straight Blaufrankisch, this is a medium-bodied red wine of serious personality and complexity. The juice in the glass almost glows it's so blue/purple. The perfume is rich and intoxicating, a flurry of blueberry, mulberry and violet, with fresh herbs and fine, crushed rock tannins. Without a doubt, one of the more interesting and rare expressions of Austrian Blaufrankisch.
Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeast, and ageing takes place in used oak barrels. This wine is neither fined nor filtered. Without added SO2.
