Chateau Quintus, a highly-regarded Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate, did not take its name from a previous owner like so many chateaux in St. Emilion. That’s because the rebirth of the estate, and its new name, officially came into being in 2011. This took place after being purchased from Count Leo de Malet-Roquefort, the owner of La Gaffeliere, by Domaine Clarence Dillon, who also owns Chateau Haut Brion and Chateau La Mission Haut Brion in Pessac Leognan.
Le Dragon is the second wine of Château Quintus. The origin of the name comes from the statue of the dragon which dominates the magical terroir of Saint-Emilion, perched on the promontory where the estate is located.
Beautiful dark red color. The first nose is intense, fruity and fresh. With agitation, the nose becomes more complex and a discreet woodiness mixes with very ripe black fruits. The wine enters the palate fine and elegant then it evolves on a fairly dense, moderately long tannic structure. The fruit accompanies the structure and the flesh. This Dragon leaves an impression of delicious balance.
