Garofoli is one of the oldest family-run wineries in Italy, founded in 1871 in the Marche region by the Garofoli family, who still manage it today across multiple generations. Based in the heart of the Castelli di Jesi. Garofoli combines deep tradition with modern winemaking techniques, producing a wide range of wines from both Verdicchio and Montepulciano, and is widely regarded as a benchmark producer in the Marche for quality, consistency, and long-lived white wines.
Macrina is produced from 100% Verdicchio grapes grown in hillside vineyards around Montecarotto and Serra de’ Conti in the Castelli di Jesi Classico zone. After gentle whole-bunch pressing and cold clarification of the must, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve aromatic clarity and freshness. The wine does not undergo oak aging; instead, it matures entirely in stainless steel at controlled temperatures.
This wine shows a bright and approachable aromatic profile, with notes of ripe peach, apple, and subtle tropical fruit nuances. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with lively acidity and a distinct sapid (saline) character, giving both freshness and structure. Hints of citrus, white flowers, and a light almond touch emerge on the finish, which is clean, balanced, and pleasantly persistent, emphasizing drinkability with a refined mineral edge.
