Castello Romitorio is an Italian wine estate situated in Montalcino. The estate is particularly renowned for its Brunello di Montalcino wines produced from the Sangiovese grape variety. The estate takes its name from the nearby castle constructed in the 12th Century, and was purchased by the artist Sandro Chia in 1984. Chia began a series of developments that included the planting of several plots of Sangiovese vines that same year.
A union of two of the world's most characteristic grapes, the Chardonnay is cultivated in Montalcino and the Trebbiano Procanico in Scansano. The vineyards that produce this white wine are two micro plots harvested at optimal ripeness. Fermented and aged separately. The Chardonnay and Trebbiano wines are more than the sum of their parts and create a perfectly balanced Super Tuscan packed with stone and lemon salinity, surprisingly vibrant yet ancient.
Complex and rich in material showing a profile of an oxidative character which alternates pressed yellow flowers with hints of beeswax, turmeric, white pepper, truffle and chestnut honey. Medium to full bodied, perfectly smooth in the sip with a solid, compact closure.
