Garofoli is one of the oldest family-run wineries in Italy, founded in 1871 in the Marche region by the Garofoli family, who still manage it today across multiple generations. Based in the heart of the Castelli di Jesi. Garofoli combines deep tradition with modern winemaking techniques, producing a wide range of wines from both Verdicchio and Montepulciano, and is widely regarded as a benchmark producer in the Marche for quality, consistency, and long-lived white wines.
Piancarda Blu is produced from 100% Montepulciano grapes grown in the Conero hills of the Marche, where limestone-rich soils and Adriatic sea breezes shape a structured yet refined style. Following alcoholic fermentation and malolactic conversion, the wine is aged for 15 months in large oak casks, then refined further for approximately 6 months in bottle before release.
Deep, expressive profile with aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, and wild berries, layered with hints of Mediterranean herbs, spice, and subtle earthy undertones. On the palate it is medium- to full-bodied, with firm but polished tannins and a solid structural core typical of Montepulciano from Conero. Flavours of dark fruit, licorice, and a faint balsamic edge unfold over a fresh, saline-driven backbone, leading to a long, slightly savory finish that combines power with elegance and good ageing potential.
