Vega Sicilia is widely regarded as the greatest wine producer in Spain. The estate in Ribera del Duero is known for its dense, complex red wines made principally from the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape variety. The Vega Sicilia estate has been in operation since 1864, long before the development of the appellation in which it resides, and the current wine styles date from the 1910s. Quality has become more consistent since the current owners, the Alvarez family, took over in 1982.
The independent member of the Vega Sicilia family. Pintia is young, intense and ground-breaking in nature. Proud of its origin, it has managed to reinterpret the Vega Sicilia culture in an innovative, brave and daring manner, at the head of the emergence of a new generation of Toro wines. Tinto de Toro is a variant of the Tempranillo grape variety but the skin is thicker and the grapes are smaller.
Highly intense in color and depth, cherry red in tone with purplish hues. It is broad, very clean, expressive and elegant on the nose, with a with tarry blackberries and fresh blue fruit. It has a great structure and a good tannic presence in the mouth and is persistent, fresh and very pleasant to the palate. A really elegant, nuanced and extremely poised wine that you can enjoy now and for the next decade.
