Calcarole Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva

Guerrieri Rizzardi is a historic, family-owned winery in Italy’s Veneto region, formed in 1913 through the marriage of the Guerrieri and Rizzardi families, whose winemaking roots date back to the 17th century. Known for their commitment to estate-grown fruit, sustainable vineyard practices, and a balance of tradition and precision, Guerrieri Rizzardi crafts wines that express the distinctive terroirs of Lake Garda and the Valpolicella hills with elegance and authenticity.

Calcarole is a terraced vineyard (marogne) up to 230 m above sea level, in Negrar di Valpolicella in the heart of Classico area. It is a location with a particularly warm microclimate, calcareous soil and beneficial south west exposure. Sourced from mature vines, with a natural low production, the grapes are harvested by hand when they are at the ideal ripeness to undergo the drying process in the nearby cellar. The hand-selected grapes are naturally dried for a few months in boxes and then fermented before the wine undergoes a long maturation in oak barrels.

The wine has intense fruity notes at rest oak, red fruit macerated and then intense aromas of jam and berries. The taste is long, with fine tannins and a full, deep structure and long finish.

Only produced in the best vintages and in limited quantities.
