With a sharp eye, natural instinct, and solid Burgundian pragmatism, Roland Lavantureux made a name for himself crafting no-nonsense Chablis. Upon his completion of wine school in Beaune, Roland founded the domaine in 1978 in the town of Lignorelles, about four miles northwest of Chablis. Roland Lavantureux create intense Chablis with richness and complexity to enhance the natural minerality of soil.

Fourchaume is one of the best known - and largest - Premier Cru vineyards in Chablis. The vineyard is located just to the north of Chablis town on the eastern banks of the Serein river. Here, a favorable south-to-southwesterly aspect and high-quality limestone soils beget a distinctive Chardonnay-based wine, distinguished from other Chablis Premier Crus by its rounded lemony flavors that nevertheless retain a fresh minerality.

The nose shows a surprising intensity with a rich blend of floral and fruity notes. Fourchaume offers roundness and elegance. This wine is generous and ample. The soil, clay and limestone mixed, brings the long ending with finesse and precision. The palate has a silky attack, and is lean and precise with zesty freshness and purity of fruit. Elegant, cautious and tangy on the long finish.
