Sacre Coeur

Jean-Philippe Janoueix Domaines is a Bordeaux producer with a collection of châteaux based in the Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion and Grand Cru appellations of Saint-Émilion, as well as Pomerol and Bordeaux Supérieur. Founder Jean-Philippe Janoueix comes from the revered Bordeaux winemaking dynasty. The family business was created in 1898 by Joseph Janoueix, with Jean-Philippe Janoueix establishing his own branch of the business in 1994.

Sacré Coeur is produced from a miniature 1.5 hectare plot on the magnificent terroir of Château La Croix, the Janoeuix family’s Pomerol estate. Lying just a few metres from Château La Croix Saint Georges, the soil is a mixture of fine gravel and sand. This combination favours both excellent ripeness and great complexity in the grapes. Their friendly neighbours in this prestigious appellation include Château Le Pin, Pétrus and Petit Village.

This has an attractive, rather understated nose with spiced plums, berries and a touch of red pepper, walnuts and dried herbs. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has fine tannins as well as polished, plummy fruit and a long, fragrant finish. Spot-on balance here makes you want to try it now and drink more than one glass
