Distilleria Sibona is one of the oldest and most respected grappa producers in Piedmont, Italy, founded over a century ago in the Roero area near Alba. The distillery is especially known for holding the historic distillation license No. 1 issued by the Italian authorities, a symbol of its prestige and long tradition. Sibona specializes in artisanal single-varietal grappas made from fresh pomace of top Piedmont grapes using careful steam distillation and long barrel aging.
Grappa di Barolo 8 Years Old is a refined, long-aged expression made from Nebbiolo grape pomace sourced from Barolo vineyards, designed to balance varietal character with extended oak maturation. After distillation, it undergoes a long resting phase in stainless steel followed by at least 8 years of ageing in small oak barrels, which gives it its deep amber color and layered complexity.
The nose is elegant and evolved, showing notes of dried rose petals, cherry, plum, vanilla, cocoa, tobacco leaf, sweet spice, and toasted wood. On the palate it is smooth, full-bodied, and structured, with flavors of dark fruit, caramel, hazelnut, licorice, chocolate, and warm oak integrating into a velvety texture. The finish is long, persistent, and harmonious, with lingering notes of dried fruit, spice, and gentle tannins.
