Ta'Betta embarked on a journey to realize a dream: that of making fine wines with personality and aging potential, which embody the terroir of a four-hectare estate. The terraced vineyards at Ta’ Betta are trellised along the north to south axis: in summer, the foliage and the shadow one trellis casts on the next, as the sun traverses east to west, allow one to protect the grapes from excessive direct sunshine. The boutique winery was built with weathered limestone blocks, blends an old-world charm with practical modern architectural touches.
Inspired by Antonio Manoel de Vilhena, the 66th Grand Master of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. He was a benevolent and sophisticated nobleman mostly remembered for the construction of the baroque Manoel Theatre. This opulent blend of Merlot (60%) with Cabernet Sauvignon (40%).
Deep, dark ruby red in color. Initially slightly resinous on the nose, before opening up to reveal notes of Mediterranean herbs, lots of ripe dark berries, fleshy undertones, dried tomatoes and summer truffles. The palate is tightly meshed, a well-balanced interplay of polished tannins, juiciness, and magnificent dark berry fruit. A wine of great finesse and length.
