Ta’ Betta Wine Estates is a boutique family-run winery in Girgenti, on the outskirts of Siġġiewi, Malta, founded by Astrid and Juanito Camilleri in 2002. The estate extends over around four hectares of terraced land, where the first vines were planted in 2003 and the first wines were produced in 2006. Ta’ Betta focuses on small-scale, premium wines with strong ageing potential and a clear expression of its Maltese terroir. An interesting detail is that the estate was named after the founders’ daughter, Bettina, while its logo depicts a girl reaching toward a vine.

Inspired by Philippe Villiers de l’Isle Adam, the French Grand Master warrior-knight who took over Malta in 1530 after the loss of Rhodes to the Ottoman Empire. This robust blend of Syrah (70%) with Cabernet Franc (30%).

Vibrant ruby red in color with a bright core. On the nose, initial aromas of graphite and leather give way to blackberry, rosehip, and dried fruit, with a distinct aftertaste of savory pepper. The palate has polished tannins and gently creamy development, with a clear fruit core and notable drive, the tannins slightly drying on the finish.
