Tanqueray was founded in 1830 by Charles Tanqueray, a young clergyman's son who abandoned the Church, whilst in his early 20s, to follow his passion for distilling. Tanqueray began distilling gin in a small brewery in London and soon became known for producing some of the finest gin available. Tanqueray is one of the most popular gins on the market and is known for its distinctively clean, crisp flavor. Tanqueray is made with four key botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelica root, and liquorice.
Juniper is the predominant character on the nose. Juniper note in Tanqueray London Dry is perhaps the most signature characteristic of it, no other gin quite has that singular juniper note. There’s an intriguing intimation of citrus zest (intriguing because citrus is not a botanical) along with candied angelica stalk and liquorice.
