Tequila Ocho Blanco Plata

Tequila Ocho was created in 2008 by master distiller Carlos Camarena and tequila ambassador Tomas Estes. Camarena is a fifth-generation agave farmer and third-generation tequilero from the Highlands of Jalisco, while Estes played an important role in promoting tequila internationally, particularly in Europe. Ocho was founded around the idea of expressing terroir in tequila, with each release made from agave harvested from a single estate so that the character of the land can be reflected in the spirit.

Tequila Ocho Plata is made from 100% Blue Weber agave, harvested only when fully mature. The agave piñas are slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens for around 48 hours, rested, then crushed by roller mill. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats using naturally occurring airborne yeast, followed by double distillation in pot stills, with the second distillation carried out in a small copper still. As a Plata tequila, it is bottled without barrel ageing, allowing the cooked agave and individual estate character to remain at the forefront.
