Dalmore distillery was built in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, who immediately leased it to the Sunderland family, who ran it for over thirty years until 1869, when the lease was taken over by three Mackenzie brothers, Alexander, Charles and Andrew. For over 150 years, The Dalmore has set the standard in multi cask maturation. Hand selected casks, from the world's finest bodegas and wineries are expertly curated to create a sumptuous and layered whisky of legendary finesse. The Dalmore house style derives from a close and trusted relationship that was forged with sherry house González Byass over 100 years ago. The rare casks are exclusive to The Dalmore. These casks enrich the signature chocolate and orange character of whisky with rich and nutty flavors.
Matured initially in American white oak, this rare whisky is then carefully divided into hand-sourced 25 year old sweet Palomino Fino Sherry barrels and 1980 first fill bourbon casks. These exceptional whiskies are then expertly married together in bourbon barrels before being transferred, for the final time into Tawny Port casks from Portugal, for an outstanding triple wood finish.
On the nose exotic fruit, marzipan, vanilla, fig cake. On the palate, licorice, orange peel, chocolate sweets with a long finish of demerara sugar, gingerbread and maple syrup.
