The Lost Distillery Lossit

In the 1800s, Scotch Whisky transformed from outlaw into legend. Over 200 years later, half of Scotland's distilleries have been destroyed and lost forever. Many distilleries famed for quality malts yet silenced by wars, prohibition and plain bad luck. After extensively researching these legendary whiskies and the people behind them, The Lost Distillery Company bring the past alive again through a marriage of aged Single Malts.

Lossit was founded in 1817 and stayed operational for a half century, until 1867. It was for a time the largest producer of whisky on Islay.

The nose initially offers sherry and fruits, with apricot, zest, and muscat, but there's smoke and brine beneath it. More smoke and peat at the forefront on the palate, a little bit meaty, with spice, and background fruity sweetness, showcasing sultanas and berries. Finish leaves closing notes of pepper, smoke, and more of that berry and sherry tandem.
