The Lost Distillery Towiemore

In the 1800s, Scotch Whisky transformed from outlaw into legend. Over 200 years later, half of Scotland's distilleries have been destroyed and lost forever. Many distilleries famed for quality malts yet silenced by wars, prohibition and plain bad luck. After extensively researching these legendary whiskies and the people behind them, The Lost Distillery Company bring the past alive again through a marriage of aged Single Malts.

The Towiemore was founded in 1898 in Dufftown, Speyside, and was closed in 1931, a decade after blending companies stopped purchasing their whisky due to concerns of lime in its water suppl. Towiemore was said to be known for a light, fruity taste.

Hefty dose of sherry on the nose, with stewed fruits, prunes, peach and honey. The palate offers citrus zest, spice, oak and pepper along with light toffee. Slightly oily. Back palate reveals a layer of smoke, with a touch of salt. Lingering, warm finish with more zest and spice, and an underlaying rich sweetness.
