Pago de los Capellanes is a family winery that began in the heart of the DO Ribera del Duero. Paco, along with his father Doroteo, tended their family vineyard, a plot that had belonged to the town's chaplains centuries ago. This small vineyard of the native Tempranillo variety was the beginning of the project for Paco Rodero and his wife Conchita Villa. Since then, they have worked the vines to supply wineries in Ribera del Duero and to found their own winery, where they have been making wines for 20 years. The vineyards of Pago de los Capellanes are planted with the Tinto Fino or Tempranillo variety, the native grape of Ribera del Duero. Although initially only a few selected strains were used, year after year they have been multiplying their best clones.
This is Reserva, born from the oldest vines and offering the pleasure of time. Its grace arises from old, extremely classy vineyards in the heart of the most intimate Ribera del Duero.
Ruby color with intense garnet tones, very clean. On the nose, it is of fine complexity, with tones of ripe fruit, especially cherry and currant, in harmony with the tones of good wood, spices (vanilla) and a licorice background. The palate is well-balanced, with a savory, tangy mid-palate thanks to its mature tannins and lively acidity. The finish is full of aromatic nuances that linger in its fine, elegant aftertaste.
