Led from the beginning in 1997 by the brothers Pico and Vitaliano Maccario, the winery is a symbol of modernity both in the vineyards management and the production of wines: the goal is that of reaching the highest possible quality, that, thanks to a precious teamwork, begins in the vineyard, continues to the cellar. The average elevation of estate's vineyards is 180 meters and the soils are based on clay. Pico Maccario credits the quality of their wines to the large proportion of old vines, some of which are over 80 years old.
The heart of the entire Barolo region, Cannubi originated around 11 million years ago through sedimentation from the Padano sea. It is the most famous and renowned cru of Barolo, mentioned in historical documents that date back to as early as 1700. It has an excellent soil intricacy, formed by large clayey limestone marls and pleasant climate that make this hill one of the most suitable vineyard farming areas in the world. The Barolo from Cannubi has more elegance and longevity than all other Barolo.
Ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose wide and intense. Enveloping cherry aroma, Tabaco and cocoa notes. On the palate, full with great completeness and harmonious tannins.
