Vasse Felix is a notable wine producer in the Margaret River region on Australia's west coast. One of the great wine regions of the world, Margaret River enjoys a truly unique environment and climate which makes it a paradise for winemakers and wine lovers alike. The estate was established in 1967 by Dr Thomas Cullity, and the first vintage was in 1971. This was not a great success for Vasse Felix – the fruit had been attacked by birds in the weeks leading up to harvest. A falcon was employed to scare the birds away, but this also proved unsuccessful as upon release, it promptly flew away. Happily, changes in the vineyards have meant success for later vintages, and the falcon is now immortalized on Vasse Felix labels, and has become the symbol of the estate.
Bright pale straw color. Fragrant notes of white fleshed stone fruit, granny smith apple, custard and citrus blossom. Elegant aromas of lovely nutty fruit muesli, Danish pastry and a hint of spicy ginger evoke complexity throughout. Palate is soft and creamy with elevated pear custard, white peach and almond flavors builds to reveal a lovely fresh acidity and a dry, toasted muesli finish.
