Carúpano rum traces its roots to Hacienda Altamira (est. 1762) and was formally established as Destilería Carúpano in 1954 by the Morrison family; it is produced in eastern Venezuela under tropical ageing conditions, where high heat and humidity accelerate maturation and intensify interaction with ex-bourbon American oak casks. Carúpano is known for not adding sugar or sweeteners after distillation, keeping its profile aligned with traditional Venezuelan rum standards; it also follows local regulations requiring a minimum of two years’ ageing and prohibiting the topping up of barrels, which helps concentrate flavor over time.

Especial 6 YO presents a light‑to‑medium amber color with inviting aromas of vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, and sweet oak, complemented by subtle bananas, dried fruit, and gentle spice on the nose; on the palate it’s known for a smooth, slightly sweet character with notes of toffee, honey, light tropical fruit, and a touch of baking spice, finishing medium‑long with warm oak and lingering sweet‑vanilla tones, making it an easy‑drinking, approachable aged rum that still shows character from its tropical maturation.
