Castello Romitorio is an Italian wine estate situated in Montalcino. The estate is particularly renowned for its Brunello di Montalcino wines produced from the Sangiovese grape variety. The estate takes its name from the nearby castle constructed in the 12th Century, and was purchased by the artist Sandro Chia in 1984. Chia began a series of developments that included the planting of several plots of Sangiovese vines that same year.

This Chianti Colli Senesi is produced from grapes grown in the hills around Siena. The cool climate of this Southern Tuscany appellation produces wines of Burgundian-like elegance. Made from 100% Sangiovese, this wine spends only 10 months on oak to retain its fresh and crunchy cherry character.

Smelling this transports you to the ochre-colored Tuscan countryside: the scent of the sun-dried earth and the oak forest is right there with the characteristically tangy Marasca cherry note of Sangiovese. The body has tension and shape without being heavy, there is freshness and bite: this was made for the table. This is pervasive and honest, has both impact and agility. The fruit -redcurrant, cranberry and Morello cherry - sings with purity on the finish. This has charm and character in spades.
