Paul Jaboulet Aîné has been a part of the Rhône Valley wine industry for almost two centuries, beginning with a small plot of land on the hills of Hermitage, before expanding throughout the region. Today, it encompasses more than 100 hectares (250 acres) of vineyards, making wines from the northern and southern Rhône.
Medium to deep red color, with a slight hint of purple at the rim. Attractive mix of spice and fresh earth aromas, with a mellow developed overtone. The palate is rich and deep, with fruit sweetness evident surrounded by a clothing of savory soft tannins. Powdery and fine. Dried herbs again, but the spice and plum of the Syrah are to the front here. Intense, deep and just medium length, with an up-front softness which is the main thing that sets this label apart from La Chapelle.
